We recently began using some Biosemi caps that were out of use for a few years in our lab.
While cleaning the cap we noticed that a couple of bits of electrode stuck in the gel in the cap. It looks like what happened is the tip of the pin electrodes came off (image attached with normal electrode on the left and damaged electrode on the right). Looking at Actiview, they still appear to be collecting normally, but we are wondering what could be the cause of this and also what the repair process would be with this. As well, we expect they may break soon, but if you have any experience with the tips of these electrodes breaking off, please let me know.

Re: Pin Electrode Tip Broke Off
Pins break due to wear, aging and rough handling. Usually, performance is hardly affected (check noise in water). In case of a single broken pin, we can replace the active electrode (sent set to BioSemi). Replacing electrodes is generally not worthwhile on well used sets.
